Authorities of Alaska

The Governor of Alaska is the senior-most official of the Alaska executive branch; see List of Governors of Ak. Alaska executive branch bureaus contain the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, Alaska Division of Juvenile Justice, the Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the Alaska Permanent Fund, the Alaska Volcano Observatory, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Alaska Division of Education & Early Development, Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and the Alaska State Pension Investment Board.
Ak has a well- court process and working Legislature.

Administrative divisions

Ak is divided into 16 boroughs (including unified municipalities),[1] as opposed to “counties.” The perform is exactly the same, but whereas some states use a three-tiered system of decentralization — state/county/township — most of Alaska just uses two tiers — state/borough. Owing to the state’s low-population density, most of the land is found in the Unorganized Borough which, as the name indicates, has no intermediate borough government of its own, but is managed directly by the state government. Currently (2000 census) 57.71 percent of Alaska’s land area has this status; yet, its people constitutes only 13.05% of the state’s total. For statistical purposes this territory is divided by the Bureau Of The Census into census areas. Anchorage merged the city authorities with the Greater Anchorage Area Borough in 1971 to form the Municipality of Anchorage, containing the city proper, and the sack communities of Eagle River, Chugiak, Peters Creek, Girdwood, Bird, and Indian. Fairbanks, however, has a separate borough (the Fairbanks North Star Borough) and municipality (the Town of Fairbanks).

Ak is the greatest state in the United States by place. Roughly half of Alaska’s 710,231 inhabitants (as per the 2010 United States Census) dwell within the Anchorage metropolitan-area. Ak is the least densely populated state of the U.S.

Alaska was purchased from Russian Federation on March 30, 1867, for $7.2 million ($113 million in today’s dollars) at about two cents per acre ($4.74/kilometers^2). The land experienced several administrative changes before becoming an arranged (or incorporated) territory on May 11, 1912, and the 49th state of the USA on January 3, 1959.
